All of the reviews I saw for Buckeye Hypnosis and Mr. Halbohm where extremely positive and said he was kind, calm, and very understanding. As a woman with a neurological condition, this was comforting. Because I often have trouble putting my thoughts and feelings into words and verbally convey them effectively (let alone open up to others at all), I was hopeful that he would be able to empathize and I would have a positive experience. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Our interaction began pleasantly enough, him asking me questions about my goal and reasons for seeking out his expertise. Some things were extremely painful to bring up. But I was not able to phrase my responses the way he was expecting, and soon I heard agitiation in his voice. He interrupted my explanations and accused me of not listening to his questions and replying with falsehoods. After about the third time trying to answer one question, I was so confused I began to cry. His agitation grew and branded me a dramatic child who 'fakes emotion to garner pity', and has a 'severe maturity issue'. Any attempts to explain myself were cut off with more accusations and character insults. All while telling me to 'stop fighting' him and 'be honest'. At one point he said I was '10x worse' than anyone else he'd worked with and 'You couldn't pay me enough to help you! It wouldn't be fair to me. This is supposed to be fun. I'm not having fun.' He then had me assume strange poses and repeat phrases that mocked my feelings. After that, I just tried to go along with everything he said, including guiding me into stoking his ego about what a kind, caring man he was and that after mere minutes talking to me he had me all figured out. Before he ended the call, the personality switch was flipped back as he was preparing to make an appearance, and he told me to 'have fun!' I'm sure there are plenty of people who he can click with and facilitate great changes in their lives. And that is a wonderful thing! However, if you are not one of those people, be prepared that there is another side and you might not get what you were expecting. I do not wish him ill in any way and am taking this as a learning experience. Attn: I was not a client because why would I pay someone to put me though unnecessary emotional trauma?? - Kat Thomas, 1 stars
